The Technology
How a Salt Spray Chamber Works
A salt spray chamber atomises a sodium chloride solution through a pressurised nozzle, creating a controlled salt fog inside a sealed, temperature-regulated cabinet. Specimens are mounted at 15–30° from vertical and exposed continuously for the duration set by the applicable standard.
The chamber maintains a collection rate of 1.0–2.0 mL/80cm²/hr and temperature of 35 ±1°C (fog zone) to ensure reproducible, comparable results. ASTM B117 defines the apparatus and procedure only — pass/fail criteria are set by the material or product standard that references it.

Standards
Standards Your Chamber Needs to Support
Supplier qualification and OEM approvals require documented evidence that your chamber meets the apparatus standard. Indeecon chambers ship with calibration certificates and can be commissioned with IQ/OQ documentation.
